Hyderabad: Just two days after its theatrical release, a high-quality pirated version of Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, was streamed on APSRTC bus in Andhra Pradesh.
Producer Bunny Vas responded by urging the APSRTC chairman to initiate strict action against those responsible and, in a press conference later, urged the Government to take strong measures to check piracy.
The APSRTC chairman K Narayana Rao, meanwhile, ordered a high level inquiry into screening of the pirated version of the movie in a corporation bus.
The film producer said warned that action would be taken against anyone hosting, telecasting, or even watching the pirated version of Thandel. He urged Akkineni fans and cinema lovers to record a video and send it to 9573225069. “I will ensure that those involved are sent to jail. All I need is video evidence,” he stated.
Piracy has become a common practice and remains a major issue in the film industry. Just a month ago, a local TV channel owner in Andhra Pradesh was arrested for illegally broadcasting the pirated version of Game Changer.
