Nalgonda: Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy on Friday urged the Centre to reconsider its decision of not procuring paddy from Telangana state for yasangi crop season.
Speaking at a media conference here, Sukender Reddy said that the Centre was deliberately trying to create confusion and unrest among farmers on paddy procurement. The Centre has responsibility to protect the interests of the farmers in the country. It should also show a way to clear the confusion on the paddy procurement by withdrawing its earlier decision, he added.
He asked the Centre to stop discrimination against farmers of Telangana state and procure paddy from our state on par with Punjab. He took strong exception to the statement of union Minister for Food and Pubic Distribution Piyush Goyal against the TRS government. He said that Piyush Goyal, who was Chartered Accountant in his earlier life, has no knowledge on the issues of the farmers. The governments, which would create hardship to the farmers, would survive no longer.
