Hyderabad: The State government is planning to recruit 20,000 more officers of various ranks in the police department, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali said here on Friday.

A well-established command control center was being setup apart from installing a large numbers of CCTVs covering nearly 64 per cent of total countries share here, he said after reviewing passing out parade of 2nd batch of Stipendiary Cadets Trainee Sub-Inspectors (SCTSIs) (Civil, IT&C, AR, TSSP and FPB) comprising 1,162 cadets at RBVRR TS Police Academy here.

Though most of the trainees were affected with Covid-19, academy director VV Srinivasa Rao had handled it in an efficient manner and completed the training in an efficient manner. “The world is witnessing a rapid change. The problems are becoming more complex and the situation sometimes become considerably violent. As police officers, you have to understand the dynamics of each situation and intervene in a balanced, positive and constitutionally acceptable manner,” Ali said.

Congratulating the trainee Sub-Inspectors including 256 women who have completed their training in the academy, the Minister said the academy has been in the fore-front of this remarkable journey of the Telangana State Police.

“We are proud to have such a large group of young trained police officers, entering into service at a crucial juncture in the State’s history,” he said.

Director-General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy said the trainees should exhibit utmost discipline and resolute perseverance that has been ingrained during their induction training at the academy.

He also stressed upon the need to demonstrate professional knowledge, uniform service delivery and skill while leading the personnel under their charge, towards achieving the objectives and goals of the State. The tasks and challenges given to police were both sensitive and complicated, he said.

Reddy said the cadets should keep themselves updated in law and use of technology in policing. “You (cadets) must work for crime free society and never relinquish the virtues of honesty, impartiality, respect for human rights, dedication to duty and sense of responsibility come-what-may while discharging duties in protecting the State from threats to its property, lives and self-respect of its citizens,” he added.
