Khammam: English New Year was celebrated in a spirited manner across the erstwhile Khammam district on Saturday.
At an event organised at the District Collector VP Gautham’s camp office in Khammam ZP Chairman L Kamal Raju, MLA S Venakata Veeraiah, DCCB Chairman K Nagabhushanam, Mayor P Neeraja, MLC B Lakshminarayana, CP Vishnu S Warrier extended greetings to the Collector on the occasion.
At SCCL corporate office in Kothagudem, Director (Operations) S Chandrashekar cut a cake and extended the New Year greetings to officials and employees of the company. He asked the officials and employees to strive to keep the company on the development track.
On the occasion, the Director and GM (personnel) K Basavaiah released the 2022 calendar brought out by Singareni Tribal Employees Association leaders B Karna Naik, Golla Ramesh and G Kodandaram. The officials appreciated the association for bringing out the beautiful calendar of the new year.

Similarly, at the IR 6th Battalion headquarters in Kothagudem, the Commandant VV Ramana Reddy along with Assistant Commandants S Srinivas Rao and Veeranna, RI T Kalidas celebrated the New Year by cutting a cake and exchanged greetings with the personnel.
Likewise, Shyamala Gopalan Educational Society founded by young entrepreneur and philanthropist N Suresh Reddy took up many social service activities as part of New Year celebrations. The society director TV Raju, members K Shyam Babu, Ramchander along with the local Eco-Club planted saplings of fruit-bearing plants at Pre-Matric Hostel in Khammam city on Saturday. Various tree saplings were also distributed marking the importance of environmental protection on the occasion.
Meanwhile, mid-night prayer services were organised at several churches in both Kothagudem and Khammam districts celebrating the New Year while devotees thronged temples to offer special prayers on the occasion.
