Ahmedabad: India and Germany on Monday finalized a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen ties in the education sector, following wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple areas, including higher education, research, and skill development.
The two leaders also exchanged views on pressing global issues, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the situation in Gaza, and broader security challenges. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India has consistently supported peaceful resolution of disputes and underlined the importance of multilateral cooperation.
Chancellor Merz arrived in Ahmedabad early Monday on his first visit to Asia since assuming office. Highlighting the significance of the talks, Modi said, “Today’s comprehensive roadmap on higher education will give a new direction to our partnership in the field of education.” He also invited German universities to consider opening campuses in India.
On the issue of global security, Modi and Merz agreed that terrorism is a serious threat to humanity. The Prime Minister said, “India and Germany will stand united against it and continue the fight with full resolve.”
