Hyderabad: Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association (TNGO) State president M Rajender demanded on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi withdraw his remarks made on Telangana in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

The TNGO has also decided to stage demonstrations across the State in protest against Modi’s remarks and demanded that the Central government fulfill the promises made in Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Act.

The remarks made by Modi were aimed at triggering another agitation in Telangana, he said, adding that there were problems in three States that were earlier formed by the NDA government. Stating that Modi’s statement in Rajya Sabha hurt everyone, Rajender sought to know as to why the Centre was not taking necessary steps to bring Telangana employees working in Andhra Pradesh.

He recollected how lakhs of Telangana supporters took part in Million March, Sagaraharam, Sakalajanula Samme and other agitations demanding a separate State for Telangana.

Telangana Gazetted Officers union president V. Mamatha said the Prime Minister’s remarks hurt the self-respect of people in Telangana. Several development works were taken up after formation of Telangana and the people are benefiting from them, she added.
