Sangareddy: The Ameenpur police, who investigated the murder of three children at Raghavendra Colony, Ameenpur on March 27, have arrested their mother on charges of murder.
Though the woman, A Rajitha (30), initially told the police that they ate curd rice on Thursday night, misleading the investigation, the police later found that Rajitha smothered her three children Sai Krishna (12), Madhupriya (10) and Goutham (8) to death last Thursday at 10 pm. Rajitha, who was in a relationship with her classmate Suru Shiva Kumar (30), had decided to eliminate her children, to live with Shiva Kumar, who was unmarried.
Speaking to news reporters in Sangareddy on Wednesday, SP Paritosh Pankaj said the accused Rajitha alias Lavanya married A Chennaiah (50), a native of Medakpally in Talakondapally mandal of Rangareddy district, in 2013. Since Chennaiah’s first wife died, Rajitha was his second wife. Their marriage took place when she was pursuing her intermediate second year. There was a 20-year age gap between them.
The couple lived happily for some time. However, they started quarrelling of late. Meanwhile, Rajitha attended her Class 10 reunion in her parents’ village at Godukondla in Chinthapally mandal of Nalgonda district six months ago, where she met her classmate Shiva Kumar. They started liking each other and also maintained a physical relationship, police said.
Kumar offered to marry her if she came alone with him. Then Rajitha, after talking to Shiva Kumar at 6 pm on March 27, killed her three children and tried to project it as a case of food poisoning. However, the police solved the case after examining phone calls during the investigation. The two accused were arrested and produced before court.
The SP appreciated Inspector Naresh and his team for solving the case in less than a week.
