Police arrest Maoist commander and LGS member in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: The police have arrested two Maoists, recovered firearms, explosive material and revolutionary literature at Thirlapuram in Kothagudem district on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt informed the press persons that the naxals were identified as CPI (Maoist) Manugur Area Committee local guerrilla squad (LGS) commander Madavi Mangalu alias Jilalu of Nendra Village in Bijapur district and LGS member, Madakam Desi alias Mamathakka of Dokupadu of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh state.

During the questioning they revealed their identity. Mangalu was involved in 60 criminal cases such as murder, blasting landmines, kidnapping, bank robbery and assault in Bijapur, Sukma and Bastar districts in Chhattisgarh. He was working for the Maoists for the past 15 years. Desi who was involved in 17 criminal cases has joined the Maoists three years back, the SP said.
Dutt stated that the Maoist leaders were sending tribals of Chhattisgarh into Telangana and using them for their needs. The Maoist top leaders Chandranna, Haribhushan, Azad, Damodar, Lachanna and Bhadru were killing innocent people branding them as informers.
The police were aware of the acts of extortion by the Maoists and their movements in the district The naxals, who lost their relevance and the public support should quit their violent acts and join mainstream life, he stated.
