Khammam: Police have registered cases against 11 people and arrested seven persons following a drunken brawl in Gopalapuram.
Town ACP SV Ramanamurthy said that on Wednesday night, Rakesh and his wife Durga Bhavani clashed with Kavitha and her husband Venugopal, who run a shop in the area, over a petty issue. Old enmity, coupled with some goons joining the fray, led to a violent confrontation.
Some miscreants poured petrol on items outside the shop and set them on fire, partially gutting a two-wheeler parked nearby. Two people are undergoing treatment in hospital, while two others remain absconding.
Police conducted tests with a ganja detection kit to check whether the miscreants had taken drugs, but results were negative.
Based on a complaint by Rudawath Durga Bhavani, cases were registered against Gopal, Venu, Vinod, Lakshmi, and Kavitha. Based on a complaint by Banoth Venu, cases were registered against Rakesh, Srinath, Mahesh, Umesh, Varun Teja, and Karthik, the ACP said.
