Police book fake sadhu for sexual harassment in Khammam

Khammam: Khammam rural police have registered an FIR against a fake sadhu who was accused of sexually harassing a woman on the pretext of performing tantric pujas. The incident came to light lately.
The accused Pastam Durgaiah of Mustafa Nagar in Khammam was booked under Sections 127 (2) (wrongful confinement), 74 (violence against woman intended to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment) read with 3(5) (multiple people committing a criminal act) of BNS based on a complaint by the woman on October 5.
The 35 year old woman of Rangam Banjar in Tallada mandal in the district complained that the accused some time back visited their village and told her that she was being troubled by evil spirits. He told the woman that tantric pujas should be performed as a remedy.
On October 5, Durgaiah told the woman that he completed the pujas and would give her a taweez (amulet) and the woman came to Khammam to take it. He took her to a house at Indiramma Colony, Venkatagiri crossroads in Khammam rural mandal and harassed her sexually.
