JAGTIAL: In the wake of a threat that the programme would be disrupted, a huge police force was deployed at the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheque distribution programme held in Ponnala Gardens in Jagtial town on Saturday.

Local MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar distributed the cheques to 108 beneficiaries from Jagtial rural mandal.

A youngster from Narsingapur, Ganga Reddy on Friday, allegedly uploaded a video on social media stating that he and hundreds of people would prevent the programme if one tola of gold was not given to beneficiaries along with the cheque of Rs.1 lakh as promised in the elections.

Ganga Reddy, in the video, said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promised to provide one tola gold along with Rs 1 lakh under the schemes. However, beneficiaries were not being provided the gold.

Pointing out that the State government had registered cases against Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and others for mounting pressure for implementation of promises, he said they would prevent the programme without bothering about police cases.

As the video went viral in the local social media groups, officials deployed a huge police force to ensure the programme went off peacefully.
