Police dept will play its part in conserving forests: DGP Mahendar Reddy
Police chief appreciates forest rejuvenation programme taken up by the Forest dept; assures cooperation

Siddipet: Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy has said that the Telangana Police will play their role in rejuvenation and conservation of forests by working closely with the Forest Department and other wings of the government. The DGP along with 60 senior IPS officers in Telangana have made a visit to Gajwel Assembly Constituency, which is being represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the State Assembly, on Wednesday following the advice of the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media after examining the forest rejuvenation programme taken by the Telangana Forest Department in 1,400 Square Kilometers area at Komatibanda near Gajwel, Mahendar Reddy said that Telangana Police have also played their role in ‘Telangana Ku Haritha Haram’ (TKHH) by widely participating and promoting the programme.
Appreciating the work of Forest Department and Siddipet district administration in improving the forests in Siddipet district, Reddy underlined the importance of replicating the same work across Telangana besides assuring all support from the Police Department. Saying that they have visited Gajwel Integrated Market, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Colony at Tunki Bollaram and Mutrajpally, Reddy said that they have been impressed by the work of the Telangana government here.
Saying that the tour has helped the senior police officials understand the vision of the State government, Reddy said the Chief Minister has underscored the prominence of the Police and Forest departments’ collective work to conserve and rejuvenate the forest at a meeting on October 7. Since the State government has intended to replicate the work carried in forest areas in rest of the Telangana, Reddy said that they have visited Gajwel today to examine the work done here.
Earlier, Siddipet Collector P Venkatrami Reddy and Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis have welcomed the IPS officers’ team at Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) at Mulug.
PCCF (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests), R Shobha explained to them about the FCRI, forest rejuvenation work taken by them in the constituency. The DGP and other senior IPS officers planted saplings on the premises of the college to mark their visit.
Later, they visited the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Colony at Tunki Bollaram, where the displaced under Kondapochamma Sagar project was provided housing. The IPS officers have visited the Kondapochamma Sagar Project and its pump house too. The district administration held a brief meeting with IPS officers at Mahathi Auditorium where Collector Venkatrami Reddy elaborated how they have developed the Constituency under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister.
The DGP said that they were indeed delighted by the work carried out by the Telangana government in Gajwel Constituency. PCCF Shobha said that the Chief Minister gave the slogan of Jangal Badavo-Jangal Bachavo (Extend the forest- Protect the forest).
