Police draw flak for stopping distribution of fruits on Deeksha Divas in Mancherial

Mancherial: Police drew flak for preventing cadres of BRS from preventing distribution of fruits to mark Deeksha Diwas at the government general hospital here on Friday.

Police reportedly stopped the leaders while they were distributing fruits in a ward of the hospital as part of Deeksha Diwas. However, they allowed the leaders when they found fault with the police.

Former MLA N Diwakar Rao, who along with ex Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah, leaders Vijith Rao and many others took part in the event, rebuked the police for preventing them from conducting the programme.

Rao said that they had been organizing the distribution of fruits for quite a long time. He stated that police never stopped the event. He stated that the government was trying to suppress the opposition parties using the police department.

He added that people were noticing acts of the government and would teach a lesson to it soon.

However, Mancherial ACP R Prakash clarified that they did not stop the distribution of the fruits. He stated that he advised some attendants of patients to move away during the programme to avoid inconvenience to the cadres.

He along with Luxettipet Inspector A Narender and others were present at the hospital at the time of the incident.
