Police personnel try to control the situation during the Congress cadre protest and rally in Patancheru on Thursday.
Sangareddy: Despite having prior information on the Congress cadre’s protest, the Patancheru police failed to control the protest and rally taken out by the cadre at the Ambedkar statue.
After an hour of peaceful protest at the Ambedkar statue, the cadre moved menacingly onto NH65 when the police found it difficult to control the cadre.
When they were moving towards the Patancheru bus station, the police slapped and beat the cadre unable to control the situation. The cadre equally responded by pushing them down.
The Congress cadre even beat the police a couple of times during the rally. They cadre was seen chasing a constable for a while.
The police could not control the cadre even when they barged into the MLA’s camp office and damaged the furniture while Patancheru DSP Ravindar Reddy and Inspector Vinayak Reddy watched the entire episode as mute spectators.
The melee triggered traffic snarls on the busy NH65 as traffic flow was disrupted for more than half an hour. The police found it difficult to decongest the traffic later.
IG Satyanarayana and SP Chennuri Rupesh were expected to visit Patancheru to discuss the entire episode.
