Hyderabad: Telangana State BJP leadership on Wednesday painted the protest by farmers in Nizamabad on Tuesday against the party MP D Arvind, as an attack. After unfurling the national flag as part of 73rd Republic Day celebrations at the party office here, State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar held a meeting with the senior leaders and took stock of the situation.
Condemning the attack, the leaders alleged that the police failed to prevent the incident in spite of having prior information. Addressing leaders at the party office after Republic Day celebrations, he recalled the services rendered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the country. It was because of Modi only every eligible person in the country was able to get free Covid vaccine, he said. Responding to the attack on Arvind, he said that attacks on opposition leaders and media persons increased in the State.
Meanwhile, a day after facing ire of farmers at Issapally for failing to get turmeric board, BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to kill him. He told newsmen in a press conference that the ‘assailants who came from old city carried iron rods and sticks” to attack him. However, he and his secretary and others managed to escape unhurt with the help of the BJP activists. The windscreen of his vehicle was damaged after stones were hurled on his vehicle, he said.
“The police officials in the district know the conspiracy that was hatched against me. But they failed to take necessary preventive steps,” Arvind alleged. He accused the Nizamabad Police Commissioner KR Nagaraju and other officers of failing to act swiftly and prevent the attack.
