Hyderabad: Police officer booked for abusing policemen during drunk driving check
An attempt to escape drunk driving tests by switching drivers led to arguments and one of the car occupants, a senior police officer of the rank of an ACP was booked for abusing policemen in Hyderabad on Wednesday night
Hyderabad: The Madhuranagar police booked a case against a ACP rank officer from Siddipet on charges of abusing traffic policemen during a drunk driving checking at S R Nagar.
According to the police, the police officer Suman Kumar was travelling in a car driven by Jaipal Reddy, who was in an inebriated condition. Reddy on noticing traffic policemen conducting the drunk driving checking, jumped out of the driver’s seat and handed over the steering wheel to some other person.
Traffic policemen noticed it and stopped the car. When the traffic police wanted to conduct a breath-analyzer test on Jaipal Reddy, the police officer got down and began arguing with policemen.
The traffic police informed their counterparts in law and order wing, who rushed to the spot and took the ACP, Jaipal Reddy and two others to Madhuranagar police station. A case was registered following a complaint by traffic policemen against the ACP and three others.
Another case was booked against Jaipal Reddy for drunk driving.
