Warangal Urban: Commissioner of Police Tarun Joshi has promised that the department would provide medical aid to transgenders to protect them from COVID-19 under Warangal police commisisonerate limits.
The Commissioner was speaking after distributing groceries and other essential goods worth Rs one lakh to 125 transgenders at a programme held at Karimabad locality in Warangal on Wednesday. Moved by the plight of the transgenders during the lockdown period, Mills Colony Inspector Ravi Kiran decided to offer some succour to them.
Joshi asked them to be courageous and take precautionary measures against Coronavirus as well as observing self-restraint during lockdown. He also promised to discuss the issue of conducting a special camp for the transgender community to provide vaccine jab.
Transgender community elder Laila, Central Zone (Incharge) DCP Pushpa, Warangal ACP Giri Kumar, AR ACP Sadanandam, Mills Colony Inspector Ravi Kiran, SI Satish and other police personnel were present on the occasion.
