Nizamabad: Tension prevailed in Banswada on Friday night after police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse people from two communities who were engaged in heated arguments over a song.

According to reports, the dispute began at a supermarket when one person objected to a song being played and another argued with him over the issue. The verbal exchange soon escalated, drawing more people from both communities to the spot.


As tempers ran high, the groups reportedly engaged in a brawl, creating panic in the area.

With the situation going out of control, the police intervened and resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Tension continued to prevail in the town when reports last came in.
