Police seize Rs 67 lakh worth ganja in Kothagudem, two arrested

Kothagudem: Kothagudem Central Crime Station police and two-town police have seized ganja worth Rs 67 lakh and arrested two persons.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Kothagudem DSP Shaik Abdul Rahaman said two-town SI Manisha along with her staff conducted vehicle checks in SCB Nagar on Thursday based on reliable information about ganja smuggling.
During inspections, the police stopped a mini-truck and found about 132.5 kg of ganja inside it. Two persons in the vehicle, Komuraju of Thoothukudi district and Rajagopal of Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu were taken into custody and interrogated.
The duo confessed that the ganja was being transported from Odisha to Tamil Nadu. Other accused in the case, Marimuthu of Thoothukudi district, Deva alias Deva Reddy and Dara Babu, resident of Kalimela village, Malkangiri district of Odisha, were absconding.
Two cell phones, Rs 3,000 in cash and the vehicle were seized. Arrested accused were produced before the court for judicial remand. SP B Rohith Raju commended CCS CI Ramakanth, SIs Praveen and Rama Rao and two-town CI Pratap, SI Manisha and the staff for their efforts.
