Police serve notice to former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy

It was in connection with a case on the attack on Congress leader A Shekhar at Rotibanda thanda

VIKARABAD: The Bomraspet Police under Kodangal constituency have served notice to former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy to appear before them at 11 am on January 2 in connection with a case on the attack on Congress leader A Shekhar at Rotibanda thanda.

The notice was served on Monday night and the BRS MLA has been directed to appear before the Investigation Officer. The BRS MLA has secured anticipatory bail to avoid police arrest in connection with the case.

Patnam Narender Reddy spent a month in jail in connection with the Lagicherla incident in which District Collector Prateek Jain was attacked by villagers. The court granted bail to him last week.

On October 26, tension had prevailed at Rotibanda thanda under Dudyala mandal in Kodangal constituency as farmers and villagers declared that they would not part with their lands for pharma village. A public hearing programme was organized in the village on the day and Congress mandal president A Shekar was obstructed by the villagers from entering the village.

As the Congress leader entered into arguments with the villagers, they locked him up in the panchayat office. However, a few villagers claimed that it was local Congress leaders, who had put up Shekhar in the panchayat office to avoid any untoward incident.

Police had resorted to mild lathicharge to bring the situation under control and later A Shekhar was taken away to a safe location by them.
