Kothagudem: Officials at Kachanapally (Komararam) police station in Yellandu mandal in the district had an unusual take at an MPTC member, against whom they opened a rowdy sheet. A large portrait of Komararam MPTC member, Ajmeera Biccha was being exhibited on a window by the side of the police stations’ main door. It was in contrast to the normal practice of passport sized photos of rowdy sheeters and wanted criminals displayed in notice boards at police stations.
Leaders of CPI (ML) New Democracy raised objections against the police’ rather strange treatment of Bichha and said it clearly indicated their animosity towards the elected member, the leaders said. The party leader Potu Ranga Rao speaking to Telangana Today on Tuesday, said he had never seen such an exhibition of portrait of any rowdy sheeter in any police station in the State. The local police want to malign the reputation of Bichha, he said.
The reason, according to him, was Bichha used to oppose involvement of the local police officials and personnel in civil and land disputes. ‘The crime the MPTC member committed was to question the police’, he said.
He further said that the MPTC member was well educated and a good writer. He participated in the separate Telangana movement and wrote a dance metaphor and performed it all over the state. The show was telecast by many TV channels.
Ranga Rao informed that he along with the party leaders Gummadi Narsaiah, Rayala Chandra Shekhar and Chandra Aruna visited the police station on Monday. When asked about Bichha’s portrait the police said they did it because Bichha was questioning them. When contacted, Bichha revealed that his portrait was being displayed at the police station for the past 15 days only though the rowdy sheet was opened in 2019 after his election as the MPTC member. There were eight cases against him relating to podu land protests, he said.
“I was the Chairman of the local Vidya Committee, Vanasamrakshana Committee and Village Tribal Development Agency of ITDA in the past. I am not worried about the rowdy sheet but concerned at the police’s efforts to damage my reputation” he said. Bichha alleged that the local SI, Sridhar and head constable Thirumal Rao abused him for questioning their ill deeds. They refused to take action on a complaint some time back against the head constable under SC/ST Atrocities Act.
