Hyderabad: MG Poonacha scored two goals while Lovepreet Singh and Pratap Lakkra added one each as South Central Railway defeated RCF Kapurthala 4-2 in the Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament, at the SCR Sports Complex, here on Tuesday.
RCF took the lead in the 17th minute through Karanpal Singh’s goal before SCR captain Poonacha drew level with a 21st-minute goal through penalty. Six minutes later, Lovepreet Singh scored a field goal but Abhay leveled the scores for RCF. Pratap Lakkra (54th minute) put SCR ahead again before captain Poonacha added his second goal to seal the game for their side.
With this win, SCR entered quarterfinals and will clash with seeded teams from Group A.
In another match, the Indian Navy trounced Indian Air Force 6-2.
