HYDERABAD: Delhi Capitals all-rounder Vipraj Nigam said that poor shot selection cost them the match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL league match at Delhi on Tuesday night.
In the post-match briefing, Vipraj said their plan was to target their two main spinners, and that part was executed well.
“However, at certain key moments, shot selection was poor, and that’s where the game slipped away from us,” Vipraj said.
“We expected dew later in the innings, which would have helped with batting. But that didn’t happen. The pitch remained batting-friendly throughout, as seen from both sides scoring 190-plus runs,” he said.
“Cricket is a journey of ups and downs. The key is mindset and the team environment. I’ve received great support from Axar bhaiya, KL bhaiya, and other seniors,” the leg-spinning all-rounder Vipraj said.
On bowling in tandem with left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, Vipraj said they had played a lot of domestic cricket together. “That bond helps on and off the field. It’s always great to have someone like him in the team,” he said.
Delhi Capitals is now placed fourth on points table and will need to win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in its next game to stay in the race for play-offs.
