Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police investigating Monday’s fatal road crash have reconstructed the crime scene and examined the occurrence of a series of events that led to the mishap, in which two persons were killed. Interestingly, officials have now found that a third person, K Venkatesh, was also present in the Porsche Cayenne car when the mishap occurred.
The police, after getting the custody of the prime suspect B Rohit Goud, who was behind the steering wheel and his friend V Sai Soman Reddy, had re-constructed the scene. It was during this that the presence of a third person came to light. Officials said the two were being questioned with substantial evidence including CCTV footage, call detail records and tower locations, when they told the police they had on Sunday night attended the birthday party of a friend at a pub in Durgam Cheruvu. They all consumed alcohol. From there, at 10 pm, on Reddy’s request, Goud along with their friend K Venkatesh, who is currently absconding, went to another pub in Jubilee Hills and after consuming liquor there, again went to a pub in Banjara Hills and consumed liquor.
The trio then left the place in the Porsche car driven by Goud with Sai Soman sitting next to him and Venkatesh in the back seat towards KBR Park.
“Rohit Goud was driving the vehicle in a drunken state at high speed on the instigation of the other two and hit the two pedestrians, who were crossing the road, killing them on the spot,” Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone) AR Srinivas said.
After the crash, without stopping the car, they went to a friend’s apartment and parked the car in the basement.
“There, they decided to conceal the fact that Venkatesh was also with them in the vehicle since his marriage was scheduled to take place on December 12,” the DCP said, adding that it was after that Venkatesh left the place in his vehicle that police reached the police and took Goud and Reddy into custody. Efforts are on to nab Venkatesh.
