Jagtial: BRS workers staged a protest on Tuesday by sitting on the road after power supply to the party’s local office was abruptly cut during the live telecast of senior leader T Harish Rao’s presentation on the Kaleshwaram project.

As part of a statewide campaign, LED screens had been set up in BRS district offices to broadcast Harish Rao’s presentation from Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. However, midway through the address, power supply to the Jagtial BRS office was disconnected.

Alleging deliberate sabotage, party activists led by former Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravishankar and former ZP chairperson Dava Vasantha staged a protest on the road, disrupting vehicular traffic for a brief period.

Ravishankar accused the ruling Congress party of “cheap tricks” to prevent the public from learning the truth about the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

“You can’t hide facts by cutting electricity. Revanth Reddy is acting like an agent of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu,” he alleged.

He claimed that only one pillar of the Medigadda barrage had shrunk, slightly affecting another, and accused the Congress of running a false narrative that the entire project was damaged.

Police rushed to the scene and persuaded the protesters to disperse and clear the road.
