Hyderabad: Transco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao here on Tuesday said the department was supplying quality power without any major interruptions during this monsoon.
“We are coordinating with officials concerned in the department to ensure continuous power supply,” he said, adding that the power grid was maintained for supplying power continuously. Rao said there were interruptions in power supply in other States during the monsoon but the department was supplying power uninterruptedly in Telangana.
Assessing the situation in advance, the department has stocked up coal in large quantity to deal with the power situation. Though rain water entered the plant at Kothagudem and a sub-station in the jurisdiction of Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL), officials took necessary steps to prevent further inconvenience.
In view of incessant rains for the last few days, Rao advised farmers not to come in contact with electrical poles or wires and added that additional staff was pressed into service to deal with any situation during the monsoon.
Additional material and necessary equipment was also made available for the staff to restore power supply in the affected areas.
Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel were kept on standby to utilise their services in case of any emergency. Rao said power would be generated from Srisailam Hydroelectric Power Plant as and when required.
As of now, the State government has not given any instructions to stop power generation from the plant. “Since Srisailam project is getting over one lakh cusecs of inflows, we are generating power from it,” he said.
TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director G Raghuma Reddy said that instructions were issued to the engineers to be on alert since heavy rains were predicted for the next three days. “We have provided material to all the sub-stations to deal with the emergency situation,” he said.
In view of the situation faced in the monsoon last year, the department has made available additional electrical poles and transformers. “We have also asked flat owners in apartments to fix their electrical meters on the first floor instead of ground floor,” he said.
A majority of flat owners have already completed the process and officials would extend necessary help in completing the process in the remaining apartments. Raghuma Reddy asked the people not to come in contact with electric poles on main roads.
In case of emergency, people can call 1912 / 100 or control room: 7382072104, 7382072106, 7382071574.
