Nalgonda: Several colonies and main roads in Nalgonda town witnessed knee level flow of rain water due to heavy rain since last night.
The main centres in Nalgonda like clock tower centre, Nehru Gunj and Prakasham Bazaar were also flooded with rain water and water went into some shops and cellars of shopping complexes and apartments in the area.
People were seen trying to take their vehicles to safe spots and shift the goods in their shops to other places. Kanakadurga Colony, Leprosy Colony, Rickshaw Pullers colony, Arjala bavai, Shanthi Nagar and VT Colony in the town saw water gushing into by-lanes.
Traffic on Nakerketpally-Addanki highway came to stand still at Indira Gandhi statue junction on Nalgonda by-pass road due to submergence. Additional District Collector (Local Bodies) Rahul Sharma inspected the junction and supervised the works for diverting the water to open place by digging a canal.
Trees were uprooted in several colonies blocking the roads. The heavy rains also disrupted power supply in majority of the colonies in the town. Shops downed their shutters voluntarily in the town due to heavy rain.
