Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in an apartment after an electric transformer exploded, allegedly due to overload, at Nampally on Friday night. No casualties were reported, police said.
Police sources said the fire from the transformer which was adjacent to the apartment spread to the building. Residents noticed fire emerging from the house and immediately rushed to safety. The Nampally police and fire department reached the spot within a few minutes and doused the fire within one hour. The total worth of the damaged property is yet to be estimated, officials said.
In another incident, a fire broke in a house at Osmanbagh in Kamatipura. No casualties were reported. A short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire. The Kamatipura police are investigating.
