Prabhas’ ‘Fauji’ actress Imanvi Ismail denies Pakistani links amid Pahalgam terror attack fallout
The content creator-turned-actor has been at the centre of speculation regarding her nationality. Rumours have claimed that Imanvi is a Pakistani national.
Hyderabad: Social media fame Imanvi Ismail is set to make a grand entry into films with her debut opposite one of India’s biggest stars, Prabhas, in a Hanu Raghavapudi movie, tentatively titled Fauji.
The content creator-turned-actor has been at the centre of speculation regarding her nationality. Rumours have claimed that Imanvi is a Pakistani national.
Amid heightened emotions following the ghastly terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, several social media users have circulated claims that members of Imanvi’s family are associated with the Pakistani military. Some have even gone so far as to demand her removal from the project.
Responding to the rumours and seeking to put them to rest, the actor issued a statement on her official Instagram account, saying:
“I want to address rumors and lies that have been falsely spread about my identity and my family via fake news sources and online media in order to create division and spread hate. Firstly, nobody in my family has ever been or is currently associated with the Pakistani military in any way.”
“I am a proud Indian American who speaks Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, and English. I was born in Los Angeles, California after my parents legally immigrated to the United States as youth,” she added in her post.
Expressing her gratitude to the Indian film industry, Imanvi said: “This same film industry has been a great influence in my life, and I hope to add to the incredible legacy of the trailblazers that came before me. As someone who has Indian identity and culture running deep in my blood, I hope to use this medium as a form of unity and not divisiveness.”
In her post, she also expressed her condolences for the tragic incident that occurred in Pahalgam.
