HYDERABAD: “I think Prabhsimran and Priyansh Arya are exciting players with the former being a seasoned campaigner and has come out successfully. So, it’s a long way ahead for both of them,” said Punjab Kings spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi.
In the post-match briefing after Punjab had to split points with Kolkata Knight Riders because of rain on Saturday night in Kolkata, Joshi said both of them should be given credit for the calculated risk and very positive approach as well.
“Of course, at this stage, at this level, it is very simple keywords, situation, conditions, pitch conditions, how they behave, according to that you can do shots, plans,” Joshi said.
“I think it is a matter of confidence level, in pre-season how much volume you add on your batting, and of course the positive environment with Ricky (Ponting) and batting coaching staff has really done well, and he has been consistent in white ball format as well, for tournaments as well,” he said.
“We really made a good contribution in the death overs, considering the pitch conditions. Marco Janssen has been proved as a good all-rounder in the white ball format, if you look at the last few knocks of him, even in the Punjab game and even in Hyderabad also, he has scored runs,” Joshi said.
“It is an advantage, we keep changing, it is not that Marco Jansen, Shashank also batted, Nihal also batted, it is again who is going to hit the ball well, considering his height advantage as well,” Joshi said.
“I think it is a learning curve what happened in the Mullanpur game and batters are in front of them to assess both the bowlers and it is always difficult when you are defending or when you are bowling first” he said.
“So obviously your game plan, your dynamics changes when you are bowling first, when you are bowling second and our batsmen adapted to conditions very well,” he explained.
