Prakash Utsav celebrated with great grandeur in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The 552nd Prakash Utsav, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, founder and first guru of Sikh religion, was celebrated with grandeur in Hyderabad on Friday. To mark the occasion, the Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Sahib, Secunderabad, organised a four-day festival, starting November 16.
On Friday, the Prabandhak Committee organised a mass congregation (Vishal Deewan) at Classic Gardens, Balamrai, which was attended by around 30,000 devotees. S Baldev Singh Bagga, the president of the committee, informed that the congregation started at 11 am with the recitations of Gurbani Kirtans (holy hymns) and Kathas by Ragi Jathas (religious preachers).
Well-known preachers Gyani Pinderpal Singh, Amarjeet Singh of Patiala, Onkar Singh, Jagdev Singh, Harpreet Singh and other reputed Ragi Jathas were especially invited from various parts of the country for the important occasion. They also offered Shabad Kirtans that emphasised on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony for which Guru Nanak Dev strived.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, who participated in the Prakash Utsav, appreciated the Sikh community for their exemplary role for being in the forefront for welfare of the people. He recalled the services extended by the community during the first and second wave of pandemic.
The Prakash Utsav celebrations also featured ‘Guru Ka Langar’ and a special medical camp at the venue.
