Hyderabad: BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar alleged political collusion between the BJP and Congress in Telangana, amid allegations that the Congress government was safeguarding a BJP leader in a woman harassment case. He demanded immediate action against BJP leader Sai Prasad and Ibrahimpatnam Congress MLA Malreddy Rangareddy over separate allegations involving women.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Praveen Kumar alleged that a woman BJP SC Morcha social media convenor, Padmini, had complained against BJP Yuva Morcha leader Sai Prasad, but the police were reluctant to act. He alleged that the police were following a “Revanth Reddy manual” and that FIRs were registered only at the Chief Minister’s direction.
The BRS leader said Sai Prasad had harassed Padmini and used caste-based abuse, threatening calls and AI-generated material to intimidate her. He stated that Sai Prasad faced 14 cases and demanded his immediate arrest. He sought a probe by a SIT headed by a Supreme Court or High Court judge into Padmini’s allegations.
He also alleged business links between Sai Prasad and the family of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He sought responses from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leader Nitin Nabin in this regard.
Praveen Kumar alleged that Malreddy Rangareddy had misbehaved with a young woman while travelling on a bus. He demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy suspend the MLA, that the Telangana State Women’s Commission summon him after obtaining legal opinion, and that a case be registered under the relevant provisions of the BNS.
Alleging that the BJP and Congress were protecting leaders facing allegations, he cited the two cases as evidence of the alleged political understanding between the parties.
