Preparations in full swing for Yoga Day in Riyadh
Preparations are underway in Riyadh for the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations. The Indian Embassy reviewed arrangements with community organisations and volunteers, while discussions focused on ensuring smooth coordination for the event at Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium
Riyadh: Yoga is rapidly transforming holistic wellness in the Arab world. It is officially recognised as a sport and rehabilitative practice in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Gulf region. Driven by pioneers and supported by progressive government reforms in Saudi Arabia, the practice has grown into an everyday staple for stress relief and community building.
Preparations are in full swing for Riyadh’s Yoga Day event under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has conducted a review meeting with active Indian community organisations and volunteers to ensure smooth coordination and the successful conduct of the upcoming main International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebration, to be held on June 20 at Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium.
The prominent community organisations – SATA Central, DISHA and IOF – besides Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardees Shihab Kotthukad and Anwar Khurshid, held discussions with senior diplomat Abu Mathen George.
“We are planning to conduct a massive Yoga Day event in a public park with the support of Riyadh Municipality,” said Muzzamil Shaik and Chetana of SATA Central.
