Hyderabad: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy directed officials concerned on Friday to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of new lift irrigation schemes that were proposed in erstwhile Nalgonda district by June 15.

Speaking after participating in a meeting to review various irrigation projects in the district at Jala Soudha here, the Minister said tenders would be called for once DPRs were prepared and subsequently works would be started to complete the lift irrigation projects at the earliest.
Since Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had asked him to coordinate with the officials concerned for speedy completion of the projects in the district, the Minister conducted the meeting here with TRS MLAs Gadari Kishore Kumar and Ch Lingaiah.

Apart from reviewing the lift irrigation projects in Nalgonda, the Minister reviewed the proposals related to modernisation of SRSP 69,70 and 71 distributory canals and construction of Itipamula lift scheme along with the canals at Dharma Reddy, Bunadigani and Pillayipalli.

The Minister said plans had been drawn up to complete the works of Baswapur reservoir by July to get Kaleshwaram water to Bhongir and Alair. He asked officials to call for tenders after receiving proposals related to Itipamula lift scheme and expedite the works pertaining to canals at Dharma Reddy, Bunadigani and Pillayipalli.
