Presence of turncoat MLAs at CLP meeting exposes Congress double standards
Apart from Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari attended the meeting at a private hotel.
Hyderabad: The participation of turncoat MLAs, who defected from the BRS to Congress, in the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting here on Sunday, exposed the double standards of the ruling party.
Apart from Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari attended the meeting at a private hotel.
Ever since the BRS questioned the appointment of the Serilingampally MLA as the Public Accounts Committee Chairman, the Congress has been trying to defend saying that he was still with the BRS and in the Opposition. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu had defended the appointment of Gandhi saying it was done as per Legislative Assembly rules.
“Arekapudi Gandhi declared that he is BRS MLA. If Public Accounts Committee Chairman has any differences with BRS, how are we related?” Sridhar Babu had asked at a press conference here recently.
However, when the CLP meeting was held, the shallowness behind these claims, made obviously to avoid disqualification in the background of the High Court’s directives on turncoat MLAs, was exposed. Videos of the turncoat MLAs attending the CLP meeting were shared extensively on different social media platforms. Sharing videos of Gandhi and Prakash Goud entering the hotel, Congress for Telangana, an X user said: “CLP meeting will commence under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy…”
It is learnt that the leaders discussed the strategies to be adopted for the ensuing local bodies’ elections, BC caste census, filling up of nominated posts and others issues during the meeting.
