Primero Skills to triple healthcare training capacity
It aims to train at least 10,000 people across India within the next one year, including Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Covid-19 pandemic has forced the healthcare industry to revisit and review the healthcare infrastructure and the workforce/skill availability. To address the current workforce needs, Delhi-based skill development company Primero is creating healthcare courses that will help in both skilling the new talent and upskilling the existing staff. It aims to train at least 10,000 people across India within the next one year, including Hyderabad.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has recently taken up the task of formulating national occupational standard (NOS) based six Covid-19 related job roles suggested by the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSCC) under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0. In line with this, Primero is designing customised courses on hire, train and deploy (HTD) model, for a fee either paid by students or hospitals.
Jayanta Das, managing partner, Primero Skills & Training, told Telangana Today, “We are creating courses for job roles such as Emergency Medical Technician, General Duty Assistant, General Duty Assistant-Advanced (Critical Care), Home Health Aide, Medical Equipment Technology Assistant and Phlebotomist (trained to collect blood samples for tests). We have been working with institutions such as the Red Cross for the last 3-4 years for skill development and vocational training. Healthcare remains an important sector for us, more so, after the pandemic.”
“Covid has shown us the current gaps in the healthcare sector. While the healthcare industry was doing robotic surgeries, we experienced a severe shortage with oxygen supplies. With experts projecting the possibility of a third wave soon, and massive vaccination happening, healthcare capabilities need to be up to the mark. Primero is keen to prepare the needed workforce in the next 4-5 months with focused courses to help meet the needs of hospitals, clinics and diagnostic facilities. We will triple our training capacity with a hybrid model (online and offline training),” he added.
In the south, Primero will focus on Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Bengaluru. The company will work with hospitals and home care providers, particularly in the areas of Home Health Aide and Phlebotomist. There will be expansion in the north as well. The company will make arrangements with hospitals to create facilities for training on their campuses.
In the next one year, the company plans to train at least 10,000 people across India. Primero believes about 70 per cent of the training will focus on skilling entry-level professionals, while 30 per cent will be on upskilling existing staff.
“We have spoken to 10-15 top healthcare companies in India. We have also developed modules to create Covid-aware workforce for the corporates. A two-hour online course will make employees aware. Cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Gurugram and Noida where large corporate houses operate, will be our focus cities for corporate employee centric activity,” Das added.
