Medak: Officials have suspended the distribution of smart ration cards at least at two places in Medak district after finding mistakes on the printed cards this week. There were 480 ration cards under the 13th dealer shop at Variguntham village in Kulcharam mandal.
While the gram panchayat officer was distributing the cards, the beneficiaries found a mistake in the village column. The village was printed as Kulcharam instead of Variguntham. After identifying the printing error, the villagers alerted the officials, who suspended the distribution programme and collected the cards from the beneficiaries.
After Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the distribution of smart ration cards in Sangareddy on August 15, officials started distributing them across the State in a phased manner. During one such programme, the municipal chairman and other officials gathered in the fourth ward of Toopran municipality, where the beneficiaries found printing errors on the cards.
Since a village name was mentioned in the ward column, the officials suspended the distribution of smart cards. Such errors were found across the State on smart ration cards. The beneficiaries have demanded that the officials correct the errors and distribute fresh ration cards without any delay.
