Prof T Ramesh takes charge as 14th Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University

Speaking after assuming charge, Prof Ramesh said that he will focus on online education considering the COVID-19 situation

Warangal Urban: Prof Thatikonda Ramesh, Head, Department of Sociology and Social Work, of Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal, took charge as the 14th Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University (KU) here on Sunday. He was given a warm reception by Registrar Prof K Purushotham and other staff at the Administrative Building on the campus.

Speaking after assuming charge, Prof Ramesh said that he will focus on online education considering the COVID-19 situation. “My priorities include improvement in quality of teaching and research,” he said.


University Executive Committee (EC) members including Prof M Rajeshwar of Dept of English, and others have honoured the new VC with a shawl and flower bouquet. Former Dean and former Professor of English, KU, Dr Srinivas Vooradi and others have congratulated Prof T Ramesh.

Prof T Ramesh, who obtained M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D  in Sociology from Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad is also discharging the duties  as a member of the Governing Body of the University Arts & Science  College (Autonomous), Kakatiya University, Warangal.  He is holding the responsibility of Dean, Academic Audit, KU from 2016. He is also the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Satavahana University, Karimnagar from  July 2019. He worked as the Vice-Principal University Arts & Science College, KU, from 2011 to 2013, and Principal (in-charge) University Arts & Science College, KU.  Prof Ramesh was the Vice-Chairman IQAC (NAAC), University Arts & Science College, Kakatiya University, Warangal(Achieved ‘A’ Grade) 2011 -2013, and Coordinator IQAC/NAAC facilitation Team, 2017.

Having a total teaching and research experience of 31 years, Prof Ramesh is also the counsellor, writer and editor of the textbooks and materials of the Distance Education Programmes.  While two scholars completed their  M.Phils under his supervision, eight  Ph. Ds were awarded under his guidance. Meanwhile, 10 scholars are doing Ph. Ds under his guidance. Prof Ramesh did one ‘Major Research Project Sponsored by UGC’, New Delhi, and also guided 02 research projects to Annamalai University.  He published 20 books and edited seven books, while he published more than 60 research articles in the national and international peer-reviewed journals so far. He is also a member of the project on “Institutional Committee for Stem Cell Research (IC-SCR)”, National Institute of Technology,  Warangal,  Under  Social  Scientist  Category  of  Department  of  Bio-Technology (Sponsored Project), New Delhi.
