Hyderabad: The Shabad police arrested a four-member contract killing gang on charges of attempting to kill a woman, police said here on Friday.

Police said two sisters were having a dispute for the past few days over an ancestral land located in Vijayawada. After a recent argument over their shares in the said property, the younger sister decided to allegedly eliminate the elder one with the help of her husband.

According to the police, her husband, in turn, approached a suspect offering Rs 2 lakh for the job and some more members, all construction workers, were roped in.

As per their plan, on January 24, while the victim, along with a friend, was proceeding from Madhapur to Vikarabad, the gang intercepted them at Shabad and tried to attack them. However, the victim escaped from the spot and lodged a complaint with the Shabad police.

Based on a complaint, a case was booked and those who attempted to attack were held while efforts were on to trace the sister and her husband.
