Hyderabad: Two gangs of property offenders who stole mobile phones of passengers travelling in auto rickshaws by diverting their attention were caught by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (south) team along with the Mailardevpally police of Cyberabad on Saturday.
The police recovered mobile phones and Rs.8,000 cash and seized two auto rickshaws.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammed Muneer (21) of Owaisinagar, Syed Firdouz (26) of Golconda and Shaik Razaak (25) of Santoshnagar all members of one gang. The other gang members were identified as Syed Sajiduddin (30), Syed Azhar (25), Shahbaz Ahmed (28) Mohammad Anwar (31) and Mohammad Ahmed (42).
“Both the gang members hired auto rickshaws and moved on the roads during the night. When they found a passenger waiting for sharing auto rickshaw they accommodated him in their auto rickshaw and after diverting his attention stole the mobile phones,” said S Raghavendra, Inspector, Task Force (south) team.
Acting on a tip off, the team caught the two gangs with the help of Mailardevpally police.
