Mahabubnagar: District Collector S Venkat Rao directed officials to ensure that paddy brought by farmers to the procurement centres do not get drenched in case of rains. He also directed the officials to shift the grains immediately to mills soon after completion of procurement.
The Collector on Thursday inspected the procurement centre at market yard and interacted with farmers. During his interaction, he asked Chandar, a farmer from Kothapeta, Hanwada mandal, as to when he brought the grains to the procurement centre. Chandar informed that he had brought 80 bags of paddy and due to shortage of trucks, transportation got delayed.
The Collector instructed Civil Supplies department officials to arrange tarpaulins to ensure that paddy do not get drenched in case of rains.
He also wanted the officials to identify godowns to store the procured stocks, besides trucks for transportation of the stocks.
