Proteins Hygienic Non-Veg Mart to add 65 stores in Hyderabad
These franchisee stores will entail an investment of Rs 22 crore and the new outlets will generate employment to 850 people, said Srinivasa Rao Potini, one of the founders of the company.
Hyderabad: City-based meat retail chain Proteins Hygienic Non-Veg Mart has drawn up plans to add 65 more retails outlets in Hyderabad by March next year. These franchisee stores will entail an investment of Rs 22 crore and the new outlets will generate employment to 850 people, said Srinivasa Rao Potini, one of the founders of the company.
The company, whose turnover is now Rs 11 crore, is hopeful of increasing it more than five-fold this financial year. Each new outlet, which needs about 1000 sqft, will see an investment of Rs 20 lakh, said Potini.
The company wants to expand to Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kerala, and Orissa in the future.
“Women go out and shop for groceries and other essentials. However, the number of women who shop for meat is less. One of the factors for this is the lack of a friendly ambiance at the meat stores,” said Manchala Vamshi Raj, director of the company.
The brand completed one year of its operations. It now has 11 outlets. Proteins Hygienic Non-Veg Mart sells fish, mutton, and chicken and operates both in physical and digital store formats.
The meat industry in Hyderabad is largely unorganized (more than 95%) and suffers from poor infrastructure and unhygienic conditions, he said adding that the meat market in Hyderabad is estimated to be about Rs 3,500 crore. So far, it has invested Rs 6 crore. It now sells 20 tonne chicken, 15 tonne of mutton and 12 tonne of fish per month. It is hoping the volumes will grow ten-fold by March next year on the back of new stores, said Vijay Chowdary Tripuraneni, another founder of the company.
JSR Group is taking a 40 per cent stake Hygienic Non-Veg Mart.
The company has plans to get into wholesale and also launch ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook meat products soon. It plans to set up Butchers’ Academy soon to overcome the shortage of professional butchers. It aims to train 500 butchers in eight months. It will be on-the-job training for three months with a stipend of Rs 8000 per month. They will be provided regular employment upon completion of the training.
