Warangal: Former chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), combined Warangal district, and President of Abhyudaya Seva Samiti, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has urged the Odisha State government to provide textbooks of Odia language for children of the migrant workers of Odisha who have been working in the brick kiln units in the erstwhile Warangal district.

In a letter addressed to the special secretary at the Chief Minister Office (CMO), Government of Odisha, the social activist said, “ We bring to your kind notice that every year migrant workers from Odisha come to Warangal district to work in the brick kiln industry along with their children.

This industry will work for at least six months. Being the organiser of the Abhyudaya Seva Samiti, an NGO, Warangal, I have taken initiative for the migrant worker’s children’s education.

Last year, we started ‘brick field’ schools at their brick manufacturing place with the help of them GWMC commissioner Pamela Sathpathy, IAS, who hails from Odisha, for the benefit of nearly 500 children,” he said and urged the government to supply textbooks in Odia language as there are some volunteers who can teach in Odia. He urged the Odisha government to provide books up to the 5th class.
