PSUs’ growth will strengthen economy: KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticised the Congress and BJP for neglecting public sector undertakings (PSUs). He said while the BJP government at the Centre was steering PSUs towards privatisation, the Congress-led State government proved to be a disaster for all sectors.
He reiterated the BRS party’s commitment to revival and strengthening of PSUs, pointing out former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao initiatives in driving development and safeguarding State interests by involving PSUs as well as strengthen the economy.
Addressing a meeting with BDL leaders at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Rama Rao stated that the BJP-led central government is steering PSUs toward privatisation. “Bayyaram mines are an example of the BJP’s apathy. Public resources are being written off, favouring corporate interests like Adani,” he remarked.
Taking aim at the Congress government in Telangana, the BRS working president called its one-year governance a disaster. “Farmers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Lagacherla farmers and many others are all fighting for their rights, but Congress resorting to oppressive measures,” he said.
Rama Rao credited former Chief Minister K Chandrashgekhar Rao with transforming entities like Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) into a profit-making organisation and implementing the nation’s best farmer insurance scheme by involving another PSU – Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). “The Rs 5 lakh insurance scheme for farmers, managed through LIC, not only provided security to farmer families but also strengthened LIC, making Telangana its largest customer,” he said.
He stated that Telangana Bhavan has become a “Janata Garage” for public grievances and fighting issues on their behalf. He said the BRS will soon hold a meeting with the representatives of BRTU (Bharat Rashtra Trade Union) next month and discuss workers’ problems as well as devise strengthen the party among the workers.
