Adilabad: Collector Sikta Patnaik urged the people living in low-lying areas to be alert in view of heavy rains forecast by Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sikta instructed officials concerned to be cautious and to take steps for shifting people residing in low-lying areas to safer places. She requested public representatives to ensure the people do not move around water bodies and low-level bridges and stated that rescue operations would be conducted if required. She added that a control room 1800-425-1939 was arranged to extend support to the public.
Meanwhile, Mancherial Collector Bharati Hollikeri, asked the officials to be available in headquarters of mandals and divisions with the Meteorological Department predicting heavy downpour for the two days. She stated control rooms were created for the convenience of the citizens. She advised the public to dial 08736-250501, 250502 and 250504 for reporting challenges.
