Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of Telangana High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara on Monday inconclusively heard a public interest litigation case on allocating the amount earned from Pushpa-2 benefit shows for the cine viewers’ welfare activities.

G L Narasimha Rao, president of the Cine Prekshaka Viniyoga Darula Sangham filed this case seeking directions and relief against actor Allu Arjun and the production house, Mythri Movie Makers. Narasimha Rao appearing as party-in-person in the case argued that the movie ticket prices were hiked without assigning proper reasons.

Rao, relying upon the Supreme Court judgement asserted that the profits of the enhanced price tickets should be utilised for welfare activities such as for the construction of public theatres, the establishment of the BOT System for small films exhibition, and for taking effective measures in protecting the small movie makers from industry big shots.

However, hearing the petition, the bench sought further details from the petitioner while directing him to produce the Supreme Court guidelines before the court. The bench adjourned the case by two weeks for further hearing.
