Khammam: While acknowledging that public momentum towards the BRS has been increasing, Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao stated that dissatisfaction with the Congress government was growing among the people.
During an interaction with the media here on Saturday, the CPI MLA noted that the Opposition parties have completely failed to capitalise on the public discontent with the government, while the Ministers were unable to counter the opposition parties’ allegations against the government.
Sambasiva Rao commented that there has been a lack of coordination among Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues, though Revanth Reddy has succeeded as the Chief Minister to some extent.
Errors were being made in policy decisions and selection of priorities by the government. The Irrigation department was grappling with a severe shortage of funds. Even the available budget was not being utilised effectively.
There was a lack of transparency regarding the release and expenditure of funds across departments. Ministers lacked full authority or freedom over the expenditure of funds in their respective departments.
Everything has to be cleared by the Finance department, where there has been an inordinate delay in clearing the release of funds. The government has failed to handle financial matters and clear outstanding dues on time, resulting in contractors refusing to undertake work, Sambasiva Rao said.
He expressed displeasure over the excessive involvement of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Khammam MP R Raghuram Reddy in Kothagudem Assembly constituency affairs. Since the constituency was allotted to the CPI it should be left free and he could manage its affairs, the MLA noted.
Referring to the Graduates’ MLC polls, Sambasiva Rao stated that the Congress did not ask CPI support in the MLC polls and would take a call when asked, until then the CPI party would weigh the options before it.
He further alleged that no system at the Centre was functioning properly and that there were flaws in economic and political decision-making. The removal of the names of lakhs of voters on the grounds of duplication was a severe blow to democracy, he added.
