Hyderabad: Amid people clashing with the Congress leaders and officials during the ongoing Grama Sabhas on welfare schemes, BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, for betraying public trust and suppressing dissent through intimidation and deceit.

“A public revolt against the fraudulent Congress government has begun,” he said, citing widespread anger over unfulfilled guarantees and alleged manipulation of welfare schemes. He said the Chief Minister’s incompetence is evident, and the latter’s diversion tactics will no longer work.

Taking to X, Rama Rao said Gram Sabhas, meant for addressing public grievances, have been reduced to police camps under the Congress rule. “From Adilabad to Alampur, Gram Sabhas across the State are scenes of police vigilance, with Congress leaders openly threatening people,” he said. He questioned whether these clashes reflect the Praja Palana (people’s governance) promised by the Congress.

Charging the Congress regime for using police excess to silence dissent, the BRS working president pointed out numerous incidents where people questioning the government faced intimidation.

He wondered whether the Grama Sabhas were meant to identify beneficiaries for welfare programmes or for approval of the Congress leaders. “Is this how eligibility for welfare schemes is determined – under the watch of the police and with the approval of the Congress leaders?” he asked, terming the Congress rule as hypocritical and repressive.

Rama Rao warned that the flames of indignation cannot be extinguished, and the four crore people of Telangana will not tolerate betrayal by the Congress. He signalled for an intensified resistance from the opposition, amid mounting public unrest over the Congress government’s handling of welfare promises and administrative transparency.
