HYDERABAD: Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer had been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer, who was also the ‘player of the match’ for his brilliant half-century, was fined Rs 12 lakhs.


For the record, Punjab won the match to move to the second place in the points table with 13 points behind leader Royal Challengers Bengaluru (14 points).
