Khammam: Time has come to teach a lesson to anti-farmer and pro-corporate BJP government at the Centre, stated Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar. He demanded the Centre to purchase Yasangi paddy from Telangana farmers through Food Corporation of India (FCI). He alleged that the Central government was acting in a biased manner towards Telangana.

Ajay Kumar along with TRS Lok Sabha floor leader Nama Nageswara Rao and former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy took part in Maha Dharna staged at the Collectorate here on Friday. A large number of TRS leaders, cadres and farmers took part in the dharna and massive rally taken out as part of the protest.

The Transport Minister sought to know whether Telangana was not a part of India and why the Centre does not want to buy paddy grown by Telangana farmers. The BJP government was turning a blind eye towards the farmers’ issues, he alleged. It was the responsibility of the Centre to procure the paddy harvested by the farmers, Ajay Kumar said while demanding the Centre to repeal the black farm laws forthwith in the interest of the nation.

He reminded that over 20,000 tanks were restored through Mission Kakatiya and steps had been taken to ensure irrigation facilities for every acre of land in the State. As a result, the groundwater level had increased making agricultural lands fertile, he added.
MP Nageswara Rao said the main objective of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the TRS party was to strengthen farmers. He said the Central government had completely failed to show trustworthiness towards Telangana State even though the TRS supported the BJP many times on the issues concerning the nation’s welfare.

DCCB Chairman K Nagbhushanam, Market Committee Chairman D Lakshmi Prasanna, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja, TRS party office in-charge Gundala Krishna and others were present.
